A motion was made to amend AM0987 to LB 271 to change the fee on trailers, other than semi-trailers, to $25 for trailers less than 4,000 lbs; $50 - 4,000-9,000 lbs.; and $75 for those over 9,000 lbs.

A motion was made to amend AM0987 to LB 271 to change the schedule for the motor vehicle tax on passenger cars to $150 for those with a value when new of $17,000 or less; $250 for those from $17,000-$27,000; $400 for those from $27,000-$37,000; and $550 for those over $47,000. The amendment also clarified that the motor vehicle tax is a local revenue like property taxes for purposes of matching funds and expenditure limitations.

A motion was made to amend AM0987 to LB 271 to provide that vehicles required to bear a salvage title are to have the taxes reduced 25 percent.

A motion was made to amend AM0987 to LB 271 to change the Tax Commissioner Revolving Fund to the Property Tax Division Cash Fund so as to harmonize with LB 270, and to clarify that the exemption from property taxes on motor vehicles applies only to motor vehicles registered for operation on the highways.

A motion was made to amend LB 271 by adopting AM0987 which essentially adopted the separate tax and fee portions. The tax is distributed to all local governments in proportion to levies, and the fee is distributed to cities and counties equally using the Highway Allocation formula.
